Suppression of Impedimetric Baseline Drift for Stable Biosensing

Biosensors based on Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) detect the binding of an analyte to a receptor functionalized electrode by measuring subsequent change in extracted charge-transfer resistance (R CT ). In this work, stability long chain alkanethiol, 16-mercaptohexadecanoic acid was compared that polymer-based surface linker, ortho-aminobenzoic (o-ABA). These two classes linkers were selected due marked differences their structural properties. The drift R observed for native SAM gold electrodes correlate SAM. This indicates importance gold-molecule interface reliable biosensing. Additionally, magnitude baseline correlated percentage thiol molecules improperly bound as evaluated using X-ray Photoelectron (XPS). Alternatively, o-ABA demonstrated negligible . Furthermore, these polymer do not require stabilization period buffer solution prior functionalization. work emphasizes understanding and leveraging properties various ensure impedimetric measurements.
